Proton Irradiation
' The kinetics of recuperation following initial doses of 470 rads of 56 Mev protons and 350 rads of Co" 7 radiation were investigated by means of the paired-dose method. By using semilog plots, recovery half-times of 4.85 ± .85 days and 2.02 ± .45 day» were found after initial doses of the protons and Co' 7 radiation, respectively.
متن کاملProton-irradiation-induced intermixing of InGaAs quantum dots
Proton irradiation was used to create interdiffusion in In0.5Ga0.5As quantum dots ~QDs!, grown by low-pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. After 25-keV proton irradiation, the QD samples were annealed at two temperatures ~700 or 750 °C! for 30 s. It was found that much lower annealing temperatures were needed to recover the photoluminescence signals than in the quantum-well case. La...
متن کاملInduced magnetic ordering by proton irradiation in graphite.
We provide evidence that proton irradiation of energy 2.25 MeV on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite samples triggers ferro- or ferrimagnetism. Measurements performed with a superconducting quantum interferometer device and magnetic force microscopy reveal that the magnetic ordering is stable at room temperature.
متن کاملDose for Proton Irradiation
With the increase in the amount of time spent EVA that is necessary to complete the construction and subsequent maintenance of ISS, it will become increasingly important for ground support personnel to accurately characterize the radiation exposures incurred by EVA crewmembers. Since exposure measurements cannot be taken within the organs of interest, it is necessary to estimate these exposures...
متن کاملAttempted Depletion of Passenger Leukocytes by Irradiation in Pigs
Allograft/xenograft rejection is associated with "passenger leukocyte" migration from the organ into recipient lymph nodes. In Study 1, we attempted to deplete leukocytes from potential kidney "donor" pigs, using two regimens of total body irradiation. A dose of 700 cGy was administered, followed by either 800 cGy ("low-dose") or 1,300 cGy ("high dose") with the kidneys shielded. Neither regime...
